说起言论自由，我首先想到的就是明朝中晚期的那些言官
言官，也就是古代的监察人员，到了明朝，可以说他们拥有无限的自由，独立汇报，对皇帝直接负责，可以风闻言事，弹劾不必有证据，说错了也没罪过，真正实现了言者无罪闻者足戒，自由吧
结果呢，认真干事者无不被弹劾，欲有作为者无不被掣肘，和皇帝闹意气，给大臣穿小鞋，这就是明朝中晚期的那些言官们干的好事——当然了，这还没考虑那些故弄玄虚装13玩深沉的山人们，除了个别特例，比如王守仁，山人们要么攀附权贵帮闲混饭吃，要么饱汉子不知饿汉子饥的过上自己的小资生活，还不如这些正经的文人们
按说，言官的职责是监察别人的行为，这就要求他们道德上必须是高尚的，同时还给予他们几乎无限的权力，这也就必须以他们卓越的才能为前提，但是实际上，基本上没有哪个言官能够达到这个要求，再加上明朝奇烂无比的士风，使得整个文官群体和知识分子阶层，都在干一些荒唐滑稽的扯淡事。告戚继光的状，抄张居正的家，阻挠万历帝接见洋人，不让李如松抵御倭寇，批评皇帝为了找打，挨打之后就是忠臣，讨论时事为了发泄，发泄之后才算君子，没有一件事干的露脸，政治改革只能昙花一现，经济拓展变成闹剧几场，而且动辄以政治合格立场正确动机纯粹道德高尚来给人分门别类，借以要求别人和自我标榜，干正事无能，添麻烦有法，拉帮结派党同伐异，没有是非，只有站队，人心散了，队伍自然就没法带，所以这些文人，就是在言论自由的庇护下，一直闹腾到社会分裂国家灭亡，才算是任务完成
作为一个历史上曾经被言论自由搞到亡国的国家，中国再怎么限制言论都不过分
